2023 - 2024 Season Opening Squash Tournament

Welcome back to all our members as the new 2023/24 squash season slowly kicks into gear..........
As is our tradition at the Richmond Squash Club, we usually organise an event for members to gather and celebrate our great club and game.
This year we have decided to let OUR players be the showcase through a SPEED SQUASH singles tournament -- to be held on Friday evening September 29 2023.  Please see the link below for registration and information, drinks and food will be part of the $30 entry fee per player, including a team shirt sponsored by a new member DESOUSA LAW (Maria De Sousa).
Ideally we would have 24 players sign up, if there is more interest we will adjust the competition schedule accordingly.

What
is SPEED SQUASH?? Here are the details:

  • A 4 team round robin of 6 players per team ranked by skill level (Level 1 vs Level 1 etc.)

  • The tournament will last 1 hour with each player playing 3 games

  • Each game will last 5 minutes, the goal is to score as many points as possible during that time, no limit on scoring.  All four single courts will be used at the same time.

  • a 60 second gap will be allowed between games for new players to get ready -- games will be started and stopped with a horn or other signal

  • Points will be tabulated for each player as a total per team

  • The team with the most points at the end of the round robin will be the winner and share in the prize pool

  • Games will start at 7 pm, we ask that all players be ready for instructions and warmups around 630 pm.

  • This event is for all players of all skills -- it is meant to be a fun and social event.  You will be matched with players of your skill or handicap adjustments may be added to level the playing field if necessary.

Please sign up as quickly as possible, it helps us plan for the food and drink requirements.
This is a great event for all members to renew friendships, make new acquaintances and get your squash season going.
